How is the reform of Bangladesh possible?

Writer: Selim SarkarSelim Sarkar

Ever since the fall of Bangladesh's dictatorship, the interim government of Bangladesh has been telling the story of reforms, but no example of reforms has been revealed yet.

How is the reform of Bangladesh possible?

The Awami dictatorial government had been using Bangladesh as an ancestral property for the last 15 years with the help of India. The downfall of the dictatorial government by the July Revolution brought a new taste of freedom to the people of Bangladesh. The people of Bangladesh started to enjoy freedom again. Get back democratic rights and freedom of speech. However, as the interim government of Bangladesh is far behind in its commitments, the people of Bangladesh are losing their peace.

After the interim government of Bangladesh came to power, the export of hilsa to Bangladesh became very uncertain. They said that no hilsa will be exported to India during Durga Puja 2024. First it will meet the needs of the people of Bangladesh and then decide to export abroad if there is surplus but the interim government could not keep its first promise. Which makes the interim government questionable to the people of Bangladesh.

Also, after the interim government of Bangladesh assumed responsibility, the syndicate expressed its position in the raw markets of Bangladesh in a very strong way. Which causes a lot of suffering for the people of Bangladesh. All the daily necessities have to be purchased at a much higher price than the fixed price. Although consumer rights are working on this issue unscrupulous businessmen are not paying any heed to it as the government is not taking any strict action.

The income of the people of Bangladesh has not increased. However, the price of daily necessities in Bangladesh has increased in several stages. Whereas an earner never can run a family with his earnings. This increases the security risk of the people of Bangladesh.

How is the reform of Bangladesh possible?

Bangladesh's biggest problem is corruption. You will never find any government arena in Bangladesh where there is no corruption. From government jobs to file transfers, corruption is everywhere. Also, there are stories of extortion by political leaders in the market. When the party comes to power, that party takes its share of extortion. Also, the dominance of syndicates is increasing day by day.

Bangladesh's social system and education system are not good. Social Welfare Ministry and MPs and Ministers talk about policy, but the reality is completely different. Everyone behaves selfishly. When they get power, they call themselves a Sultan. They build houses, cars, and beautiful fortunes for children abroad. But exploiting the poor and the middle class becomes more important than thinking about those whose money allows our MP minister to live such a luxurious life.

Vote Selling in Bangladesh

However, the interesting thing is that another worst aspect of Bangladesh is vote selling. For those people, the corrupt have returned to Bangladesh again and again. There are precedents in Bangladesh where people sell their votes for money during elections. Which is not only harmful to him but becomes a fatal issue for the nation.

Finally, I can say that if we want to reform Bangladesh, we should reform the thinking of Bangladeshi people along with the reform of the constitution of Bangladesh. The perception of the people of Bangladesh should be changed. By giving up emotional thinking, logic, and rational thinking should be expanded. Protesting against injustice and standing up for justice should always be taught to resist the corrupt. Education should be made compulsory for every child in Bangladesh.
